As new social platforms and technology develop, social media use continues to rise. This five-step plan will help your organization share your faith and your mission with current and potential supporters. 1 Make a decision. Are you using social media? Most organizations have hopped on the social media train—but the fact that your organization is ON social media does not mean your organization is USING social media. So, the first step to developing a social media plan is deciding how you will use social media strategically. Will your team members only post when they remember to, or is your organization going to post consistently? Will your organization only post for promotional purposes, or will your organization post with intention to develop a one-to-one connection? Do your social media profiles appear randomly used, or do they represent your mission and faith? 2 Determine how often to post. With social media, posting too much can be considered "overkill." You want to avoid spamming your followers, but should post often enough to keep them engaged. It is more important to be consistent than frequent. If your organization has been posting inconsistently, just start with once per day on Facebook®. Once consistency begins to build, post again to continue increasing engagement with your followers. PRO TIP: Connect your social media profiles to cross-promote your channels and share new posts on different social platforms.
