By raising funds through the Christ Our Hope annual appeal, it supports the works of the Church—helping people in need through food distribution, housing services, senior care, adoption, and emergency services; educating seminarians and deacons; supporting Catholic education; and assisting underserved students. Economic and Other Factors Threatening Annual Giving Results In the six years that Director of Major Gifts Jolinda Moore has worked for the archdiocese's development office, she says not much has happened that could be considered business as usual. The archdiocese faced a worldwide recession, declining donations, and staff turnover, all combined with the fact that as many as a third of its 151 parishes were involved in capital campaigns benefiting its individual parishes and the archdiocesan community. "Traditionally, we relied heavily on parish pastor appeals and direct mail promotions to deliver our annual fund campaign," said Ms. Moore. "We wanted to put more emphasis on personal contact with individual donors, but we didn't have the capability to qualify potential donors." Archdiocese of Indianapolis is powered by: Raiser's Edge® Blackbaud Target Analytics® "For the first time, we were able to look at the data in a new way and decide how many of the identified potential donors we thought we could engage with our existing staff and budget." —Jolinda Moore, Director of Major Gifts
